Wildfire Journey Story

Visual storytelling website documenting a train hackathon interrupted by the 2024 Jasper wildfire.

Overview

Hack Club brought 50 teenagers onto The Canadian for a cross-country hackathon. The train turned back at Kamloops because of the Jasper wildfire, and the hackathon continued at Vancouver station.

The site pairs train-window footage with animated captions and optional train audio to tell the journey’s story.

Result

I built a visual account of the journey and its environmental context and shared it at the onboard project showcase. The site ran on the train’s local network.
